YogahOMe Run for Shelter Event

YogahOMe Run for Shelter 2012 was a 5K and carnival held on March 31st that benefited Transitions Global. Transitions Global provides after-care homes and long-term care for girls rescued from sex trafficking. While we raised money for a serious cause, the event was anything but serious.

I was honored to not only photograph the event again this year, but to also be an official sponsor.  It was a very proud moment for me - I got my name on all of the event signage, plus the teeshirts! :)  I'm glad that I could be a small part of such an important cause.

Here are a few photos from the event.

The event coordinators-extraordinaire!
Some munchies donated by Panera.
And free, hot tea from Essencha.  It hit the spot on this chilly March morning.
This was the refueling station for all of the 5k runners... and those of us who skipped breakfast :)
The Transitions Global info table - the reason we were all there that morning!
A teeshirt that says it all.
The 2012 event sponsors... see a familiar name under the Carnival Game Sponsors? :)
The ladies from Funke's Fired Arts - pottery painting at it's best!
Some of the 5k runners getting warmed up, just minutes before the race started.
On your marks, get set... GO!
Representing Adventure Boot Camp for Women - they led the pre-race stretching.
While their parents were out running, the kids were back at the carnival winning prizes!
Photo finish with the help of the UC Cheerleaders and Bearcat!

This little girl raised $300+ for the charity and also ran the entire 5k!  Just incredible.
Some post race stretching provided by Move Muscle Therapy and Thrive Chiropractic.
The first, second and third place finishers:
...a very happy (and fast) bunch!
The Bearcat mauling a child.  Juuuust kidding.  I think this little guy is having the time of his life!
And the kids' egghunt is ON!

These medals were awarded to the participants in the Kids Fun Runs.
And one more of this tremendous little girl receiving her award.  Congratulations!!!
Okay, time for a little bragging.  Do you see my name on the teeshirt!
All in all, it was another great event with a wonderful turnout.  Hopefully Transitions' goal was met and and they are able to continue assisting the less fortunate.

Thanks for another fun year!  I loved every minute of it!!!
